We are very excited about 2008. It promises to be a very good year. Two memorable dates for the 2008 wedding season are Saturday 6/7/08 and Friday 8/8/08. These two dates are booking fast with wedding professionals and venues. To get the professional/venue you want, plan to reserve early.
If you have a friend or family member offering you free wedding services such as photography or DJ services please read the following. Generally friends don’t work under contract, and you may not have any recourse to guarantee that the services agreed upon will be performed as you desire. After all you wouldn’t take your friend to court would you? I have photographed a reception where a coworker/friend of the bride agreed to videotape the reception at no cost. At the start of the reception the videographer was nowhere to be found. After the grand entrance and cake cutting took place, the videographer showed up. It turned out he had a few drinks & began video taping the reception that was being held in another room at the same hall. I have heard another story from one of my clients about friend/family member that volunteered to photograph a couple’s wedding a few years ago. It turned out that he didn’t have film in his camera for a good portion of the day. These stories can be viewed as funny and will when told will cause people to laugh but, in both of these cases once in a lifetime images were lost. You can bet in both of these cases that the relationship took a rapid and dramatic change for the worse between the bride/groom & the person (friend and/or family member) performing the service for free.
When you hire a professional services are rendered for an agreed upon fee and there is a contract in place providing legal protection. Remember once the reception is over, gifts are open & the honeymoon is over the only thing you will have left to remember your day by are the photographs. Our goal is to produce images that will take you back to the special moments of your day when viewed in the years from now. We believe that we are producing a family heirloom for our clients.
